These conferences are free half-day events designed to help employees better understand their TMRS benefits and make plans for their retirement. The programs combine TMRS speakers with experts in Social Security benefits and financial planning. They are especially useful for members eligible for or considering retirement. TMRS provides a continental breakfast, and spouses are welcome to attend. Regional conferences usually are planned in the first seven months of the year. In 2012 we are planning to hold the following conferences in cities across the state:

Annual Seminars allow city administrators and decision-makers to network with TMRS staff and peers and keep abreast of TMRS changes and policies.

Post-Restructuring Funding Workshops| Previous years' Funding Workshops
The 2011 Funding Workshops were designed for city finance personnel, to keep them informed of TMRS changes after fund restructuring. We scheduled six workshops from July 12 through August 4, 2011; more may be scheduled if needed. Each workshop featured a 30-45 minute presentation, followed by questions, and time to meet with TMRS Staff. | Funding Workshop Presentation
City Correspondent Certification Courses
This one-and-a-half-day course gives City Correspondents and other TMRS plan administrators the knowledge and tools they need to function in partnership with TMRS. These classes are usually held at the TMRS Headquarters in Austin. For 2012, the courses will be held in April and November. Those interested in attending need to sign up by sending in a registration form; TMRS usually gets a block of rooms from area hotel(s) and provides shuttle service from the hotel(s) to the TMRS building for attendees.
